Delivery Models
Symbions leverages the offshore outsourcing model offering clients a choice between Offshore, Onsite or Hybrid delivery models.
These models offer the client multiple benefits such as variable cost structure, scaleable capacity, access to quality oriented technical resources and proven methodologies for their outsourcing requirements.
Offshore Delivery Model
This model best suits projects with a well-defined 'Project Plan'. Onsite program managers from Symbions interact on a regular basis with the client to manage the requirements for outsourcing. In certain cases the program manager is located offshore and establishes regular communications through fax, telephone and email. Regular onsite meetings further support him. Progress reports are sent to the client on a regular basis. The client can conduct mid-term reviews with the program manager at their offices or at the offshore office. Our engineers also facilitate installation and acceptance testing at the client's office.
Maintenance projects, porting requirements and application development to well defined specifications are some of the engagements that are typically delivered in an offshore mode. While a complete offshore model is the most cost-effective solution for some clients, the model has a higher inherent level of risk. Risk management in such cases becomes a critical success factor.
Onsite Delivery Model
The duration and nature of engagement or the lack of proper definition in certain types of engagements often requires work to be done completely onsite at the client premises. This is especially true in the case of product engineering related services and when the project scope is open-ended and iterative in nature.
Our onsite services span a range of computing environments and business areas. We can provide clients with consultants and programmers in diverse relevant areas and technologies. Our services include Business Requirements Analysis and Technology Assessment, Formulation of Functional Specifications, Design, Coding, Testing, Maintenance and Support.
During the assignment, our consultants report to the onsite project manager. At the same time, they are also expected report to our
offshore offices on a weekly basis.
Hybrid Delivery Model
Hybrid Development is a combination of onsite and offshore services that deliver results at highly reduced costs. Requirements engineering and the development of detailed specifications is usually done onsite, while software development and testing is done offshore at our development center in India. This model
maximizes efficiency in resources and costs.
Proven benefits of this model include continuous, near-24 hour work cycles; the ability to structure and assemble teams with diverse, multiple
skill sets; lower costs for resources and the ability to quickly scale (up or down) depending on the requirements.
This model has its own set of challenges including management and administration costs, optimization of cross-cultural communication and the management of onsite teams. However, our well-documented and tested processes and experience in successfully implementing this model have enabled us to overcome these challenges and establish successful working relationships with global clients.
Client Benefits
Variable Cost Structure & Scaleable Capacity : Since offshore resources are available on a project-to-project basis, the client does not have to take on the fixed costs to meet the project requirements. This scaleable model allows protects clients against the risks of skill obsolescence and attrition.
Optimized Costs: Offshore software development offers tremendous cost savings, in some cases
up to 30 - 50% on software services budgets.
Focus on Strategic Issues: Client IT staff can focus their efforts on conceptualizing the solutions thus generating value for their organizations.
